REIKI

Reiki is a gentle, holistic healing practice that works with energy. It’s based on the idea that a Universal Life Force Energy flows through all of us, and when that energy is balanced, we feel healthier and more at ease—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Universal Life Force Energy is the vital energy that flows through all living things and connects everything in the universe. You can think of it as the invisible force that makes plants grow, keeps your heart beating, and gives you that spark of life. Different cultures and traditions have their own names for it—like 'chi' in Chinese medicine, 'prana' in yoga, or 'ki' in Japanese practices like Reiki.

Have you ever entered a room and felt an overwhelming sense of tension, almost as if you could physically feel it in the air? Or perhaps you’ve instinctively placed your hand on a sore spot—whether your own or your child’s—seeking comfort or relief without even thinking about it. These moments highlight how deeply attuned we are to energy, whether it’s the emotional energy of a space or the natural healing energy we channel through touch.

This energy isn’t something we see, but we can feel its effects when it’s balanced—it supports health, vitality, and emotional well-being.

It’s a subtle but profound reminder of our intuitive connection to the energy that surrounds and flows through us.

Prolonged exposure to stress, illness, and environmental toxins can disrupt the flow of energy in your body, and over time, the flow of energy can become blocked or impeded often manifesting as fatigue, mental fog, or physical illness.

How does it work?

A Reiki Practitioner is not a healer in the traditional sense, but rather a channel for energy. Through attunement from a Reiki Master, the practitioner acts as a conduit, facilitating the flow of healing energy to align with the intentions of the person seeking healing.

Reiki practitioners can act as conduits for healing energy because they have undergone a process called attunement or initiation from a qualified Reiki Master. This attunement is a key part of Reiki training and is what sets practitioners apart. For further information, please refer to our Reiki blog.

Reiki works to restore this balance by transferring healing energy from one person to another. In a Reiki session, the Reiki Practitioner offers healing with intention, while the other is open to receiving it. It’s a two-way process—a partnership that’s vital for the session’s success. If you approach a Reiki session completely closed off to the idea of healing, its effectiveness can be diminished.

The human energy system traditionally has seven main chakras. In Reiki, Cheryl typically focuses on these seven chakras but may also work on other energy points or areas of the body guided intuitively. To learn more about these chakras, please refer to our Reiki blog.
