CHERYL’S STORY

I’m a mum to two teenagers, partner to a FIFO worker and a qualified General Counsellor, educated by the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors.  I’m also a member of the Australian Counselling Association.

I previously had a 15-year career in business and people management. My role was very demanding, requiring long hours and regular interstate travel, all while I managed the responsibilities of being a single mother to two young children.

I was also navigating intense emotional challenges, including grief, loss, and significant personal upheaval.

This all led me to my own experiences with anxiety, stress and burnout.

I raised my hand for help and I’m glad I did.  I felt relieved and much lighter talking to someone.  Seeking professional support and making positive changes in my life was pivotal to my recovery.

Understanding the health complexities associated with a demanding career and excess stress, I pursued further education in counselling.  I’m now dedicated to helping others overcome the burnout, stress and anxiety I faced.

I’m also acutely aware of the stress and overwhelm that can accompany caring for loved ones with dementia and terminal illness. My personal experiences in this area enable me to empathise deeply and provide vital support to individuals navigating similar challenges.

I have a NDIS Worker Screening, Working with Children Check and Current Police Check.

“I understand how much courage it takes to ask for help.  Sometimes the stress and anxiety that life deals us from time to time, is much bigger than what we can handle on our own.  I invite you to reach out for support – you are not alone!
