A Doctors Referral or Mental Health Plan is not required to make an appointment.

Counselling at this stage is NOT part of the Medicare Better Access Scheme and counselling cannot be claimed under Medicare.

Mental Health Plans under the Better Access Scheme are provided by a Doctor and the client usually sees a Psychologist (the Medicare Rebate is offset against the Psychologist fee). You can choose to see a Counsellor - but you will not receive a Medicare Rebate to offset against the Counselling fee.
